I have been an IT professional for over 20 years specialising in databases and application development, including 5 years with IBM.
I build websites using my own web page templates. By changing fonts , buttons ( colour & shape ), borders , backgrounds and adding personal photos, these templates can be used to create a great variety of web page styles to suit everyone.
I use awardspace.co.uk to host my pages. This is a free service and I have found them reliable over the years.
Costs
The one-off cost to build a 6 page web site and host it on Awardspace free hosting is £60. Additional pages can be added pro-rata. This is normally sufficient for a small business to gain a footprint on the web or for a family web site.

The Web Page Design Process
The questionaire can be emailed to clients to fill in and return. This will give an idea of the requirement. The web site content can be via email or sent in a word document. Photos can be sent as email attachments.
Clients choose the colour , background and button styles to give the site a unique feel. Once the layout of each page is agreed, the content is added to to the template, text formated around photos, graphics etc and pages published on awardspace.
As a staring point I ask clients to tell me which existing web sites they like the look of and then develop from there. The whole process normally takes about 2 weeks.

Email forwarding - An Email account is included with the Domain. Emails can be automatically
forwarded to clients cuttent Email accounts.
Web Hosting using your own domain name cost approx. £40 / year. This cost is made up of domain name registration and hosting charges but is not required if using the Awardspace free hosting option.
